AMIR Board Members

Chairman:Jules Theoneste NDAHAYO has over 12 years of experience in rural development and microfinance, and is currently working as Chief Executive Officer of UMUTANGUHA Finance Company (UFC) Ltd, formerly Union of Saving and Credit Cooperatives UMUTANGUHA (UCU), a Microfinance institution which has a special focus on rural farmers, women and youth in Rwanda. Mr NDAHAYO is currently the chairperson of the Association of Microfinance Institutions in Rwanda (AMIR) and has coordinated various projects funded by International organisations including UN agencies in the domains of Microfinance, financial education, digital financial services, Rural Finance and Youth &Women friendly services. Mr Jules NDAHAYO holds a Bachelors Degree in Finance and Banking and a Masters Degree in Microfinance (waiting for graduation). He is a CGAP certified trainer in Financial Management, Governance as well as Business Planning and has been conducting several trainings in all these courses while also providing technical assistance for MFIs in different domains. He has been conducting several technical assistances in all these fields and spoke at various panels about Microfinance and digital financial services in Africa and Europe.
Vice Chairman: Kayumba Charles has over 15 years of experience in management, rural development and microfinance and is currently working as Chief Operations Officer of DUTERIMBERE MFI LTD, a Microfinance institution which targets mainly rural farmers, women and youth, Cooperatives, savings groups across Rwanda. Mr KAYUMBA is currently the Vice chairperson of the Association of Microfinance Institutions in Rwanda (AMIR). He has held different positions such as branch manager at DUTERIMBERE MFI LTD, accountant and operations manager in the same MFI. For all the years he worked with Microfinance institutions, he opened up different branches, disbursing loans to rural farmers, women and youth as well as cooperatives and savings groups. Mr KAYUMBA holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance. He is a CGAP certified trainer in Financial Management, Governance as well as Business Planning and has been conducting several trainings in all these courses while also providing technical assistance for MFIs in different domains.
Secretary of board: Chantal UWAMARIYA has over 10 years of experience in microfinance, and is currently working as Manager of CPF INEZA, a Microfinance institution which has a special attention on rural farmers, women and youth particularly in Southern Province, Rwanda. Ms UWAMARIYA is currently the secretary of the Association of Microfinance Institutions in Rwanda (AMIR) and has conducted various trainings such as Training of trainer for Entrepreneurship, Microfinance and Cooperatives Management, Trainer of different MFIs on cash flow lending to SMEs as well as Preparation, evaluation and monitoring of RIF 2 and PRICE project supported by BDF. Ms Chantal holds a Bachelor’s degree on management at ICK Kabgayi and undertaking an MBA. She is a certified trainer with Rwanda Institute for Cooperatives, Entreprenuership and Finance (RICEM) mainly in areas like financial management, Governance, product design as well as Business Planning.
Advisor: MUKANDAYISABA Marie Grace, the member of AMIR BOD elected by the general Assembly of December 2016 as the Advisor to the BoD She is currently the Chairperson of SACCO ABIHUTA KINIGI and she a teacher by profession and has got a Bachelors degree in Education. She has 2 years of experience in the management and governance of SACCO.
Advisor: UWAMWEZI Dative has got 5 years in the microfinance sector as the member of Administration committee of U-SACCO Seruka Gisenyi. She has been employee of Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority (RCAA) since 1997 where she worked as Gisenyi Airport Commandant, Cashier, Accountant, and currently Finance Assistant. She has a Bachelors Degree of Bisinesss Administration and and many certification in the Finance. She is still working with RCAA in Gisenyi Airport. She was elected by the General Assembly of AMIR in December, 2016 as the Advisor to the Board of Directors.
