Today, Mr. Kwikiriza Jackson, Executive Director of the Association of Microfinance Institutions in Rwanda (AMIR), represented the institution at the signing ceremony of the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Code (WE Finance Code).
During this event, AMIR joined 16 key stakeholders from the financial ecosystem in committing to close the financing gap faced by women-led micro, small, and medium enterprises (#WMSMEs). The commitment focuses on three key action areas:
Leadership: Appointing a senior management representative to champion the organization’s efforts in supporting WMSMEs.
Action: Expanding existing initiatives and introducing new measures to better serve women entrepreneurs.
Data: Monitoring and reporting annually on an agreed set of indicators related to financing for WMSMEs—or supporting others in doing so.
As a committed endorser of the WE Finance Code, AMIR will work closely with partners and stakeholders to drive leadership, strengthen data practices, and implement tangible actions that eliminate barriers and close financing gaps for women entrepreneurs.
Specifically, AMIR will:
Designate senior leader to champion the organization’s efforts to support women – led and women owned business.
Track a commonly agreed set of indicators on the level of financing provided to women-led firms.
Expand and introduce measures that will support women entrepreneurs.
This announcement coincides with the Financial Alliance for Women Annual Summit, currently taking place at the Kigali Convention Centre, which brings together policymakers, investors, entrepreneurs, and regulators to drive transformative change for women-led MSMEs.
