The Chief Executive Officer of Access to Finance Rwanda (AFR), Kampeta Sayinzoga, accompanied by Agnès Uwanyiligira, Chief Programs Officer, and Eric Picard, Chief Strategy Officer, paid a courtesy visit to AMIR to strengthen the existing partnership between the two institutions.
They were received by Jackson Kwikiriza, Chief Executive Officer of AMIR, together with senior management staff.
The two institutions discussed opportunities to strengthen their existing partnership and forge new areas of collaboration. Among other areas, they discussed partnerships around:
- The next FinScope Survey
- Establishment of a Microfinance Liquidity Fund
- Scale-up of the ZOSE Shared Agency Banking System
- Digitisation of the microfinance sector
The long-standing partnership between AMIR and AFR has significantly contributed to expanding access to finance, particularly for youth and women, refugees, persons with disabilities, and MSMEs. Rwandau2019s financial inclusion rate reached 96% in 2024, according to the Rwanda FinScope 2024 Survey.
Over the years, AFR has been a key partner of AMIR in several areas, including the automation of Non-Umurenge SACCOs, sector research, institutional strengthening and technical assistance to MFIs and SACCOs, implementation of the ZOSE Shared Agency Banking System, and the organisation of learning events.
Through this long-standing collaboration, AMIR and AFR continue to contribute to the development of a stronger, more inclusive, and digitally enabled microfinance sector in Rwanda.
